TOLEDO, Ohio — A 19-year-old woman was killed and two others were injured early Sunday morning in a shooting outside an after-hours club in Toledo, according to the Toledo Police Department.
Officers say the shooting happened around 3:00 a.m. in the parking lot of a plaza near Reynolds Road and Hill Avenue. Three people were struck by gunfire. One of the victims, identified by police as Jasmine Queen, 19, was taken to a nearby hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
Police say the two other victims, both adults, are expected to survive. One was found in a car on Dorr Street near Reynolds Road, which investigators believe had been in the parking lot when the shooting occurred.
As of Sunday, police have not released information on any suspects.
Queen was an employee at Doc Watson’s, a Toledo restaurant that announced it will close temporarily in the wake of her death. In a statement posted to the restaurant’s Facebook page, staff shared, “Our hearts are completely shattered today. Jaz wasn’t just an employee at Doc’s, she was the heart of this place. Her laugh, her light, the way she cared for her customers and crew… she made every shift better just by being in the room. She was family to us. We are heartbroken. We are grieving. And we are trying to find the words for a loss that doesn’t feel real yet. We will be closed until further notice. Please keep her family, friends, and all who loved her in your thoughts. We love you Jazzy.”
Police are continuing to investigate Sunday’s incident and have not released further details.
