TOLEDO, Ohio — Hamburger Mary’s will close its downtown Toledo location Wednesday night after nearly seven years in the city.
In a Facebook post Tuesday, the restaurant said, “After almost 7 years in Toledo, we are forced to close our doors tomorrow, February 18th. We’re going to do it the only way we know how: a party.”
Bingo is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by drag shows starting at 9 p.m. and continuing through the evening.
Their Facebook post further explained the closure, “We tried so hard to navigate this world in the current climate for minorities, and the environment downtown due to new construction has not helped in anyway.”
The restaurant is located on North Huron Street downtown and previously operated at The Docks before relocating two years ago.
It is unclear whether ownership plans to reopen in another location.
In its farewell message, the business thanked customers for their support, writing, “We were nothing without you, Toledo.”
