Toledo, Ohio — A 60-year-old man who was recently released from prison is facing murder and felonious assault charges after a 63-year-old woman was found dead inside the Arlington Arms apartment building.
Police say Julie Miller was discovered in her apartment after neighbors checked on her. Investigators later identified Bryan Laas as the suspect. Authorities report he admitted to entering the apartment and repeatedly striking Miller in the head.
Laas was taken into custody following interviews with residents and a search of the surrounding area. He is currently being held at the Lucas County Jail. Court records show he previously served seven years in prison for a 2018 assault conviction in Perrysburg Township.
The investigation remains ongoing.
