Toledo, Ohio — City leaders have declared O’Shea’s Irish Pub a public nuisance after nearly 170 calls for police service at the location over the past three years.
Records show the Toledo Police Department responded to 169 calls for service and filed 79 reports tied to the bar during that time. Incidents included reported assaults, fights, domestic violence cases, and other violent disturbances.
The establishment has now been added to Toledo’s Code Enforcement Response Team (CERT) list, which tracks businesses with repeated safety concerns. As a result, O’Shea’s can no longer hire off-duty officers from the Lucas County Sheriff’s Office or Toledo police to work security details. Businesses on the list must provide their own private security.
Recent reported incidents include a stabbing inside the bar and multiple alleged assaults in 2025. Two weeks ago, a woman was struck by a vehicle while assisting a patron outside the establishment. The driver left the scene, and the woman required surgery.
City officials say the goal of the designation is to improve safety conditions. If issues continue, the city could pursue further penalties, including shutting down the business for up to one year.
