Memorial Day is Monday, May 27. Here’s a list of area services (all are on Monday unless otherwise noted).
Grand Rapids/ Grand Rapids Township
Services start at 9 a.m. at Beaver Creek Cemetery with the pledge to the flag. Speaker will be Scott Carmen. The service then moves to Mt. Pleasant Cemetery at 9:45 a.m. with speaker Paster Tom Coley. Services will arrive in downtown Grand Rapids at 10:30 a.m. with a welcome from Mayor John Berry, pledge, prayer, national anthem, recognition of WWII, Korean War, Vietnam War, and the Global War on Terrorism. Potluck will begin at 12:30 p.m. at American Legion Post 232.
Liberty Center
Services begin at 9:30 a.m. at Heath Cemetery. Parade starts at 10:15 a.m. followed by a memorial at Young Cemetery. Chicken BBQ will be held at VFW following the ceremony.
McClure
Services begin at 10 a.m. at Hockman Cemetery with guest speaker Robin Small.
Toledo
The City of Toledo and Lucas County will hold a Memorial Day service Saturday at 10:30 a.m. There will be a wreath laying ceremony at All Wars Memorial, POW-MIA empty chair remembrance, a flyover from the 180th, and a performance from Springfield’s JRTOC.
