2025 Dog Registrations Open Sunday in Wood County

The Wood County Auditor’s Office announced that applications for 2025 dog registrations will open on Sunday. Under Ohio law, all dogs aged three months or older must be registered in the county where they are kept by January 31 each year.

To register, owners must provide the dog’s age, sex, spay or neuter status, color, hair length, and breed, along with the owner’s name, address, and phone number. A $14 registration fee is required for each dog. Renewal notices are mailed to previous registrants, and owners who used online registration in 2024 will receive email reminders.

Dog owners can select a one-year, three-year, or permanent license. Fees are $14 for a one-year license, $42 for a three-year license, and $140 for a permanent license. Refunds are not available. Kennel owners must also register annually by January 31 and pay a $70 fee. Late registrations incur penalties equal to the license fee.

New dog owners or those with dogs reaching three months of age after January 31 have 30 days to register. Applications can be submitted by mail, in person, or online. Mailed applications should include the license fee, required dog information, and a self-addressed stamped envelope. Do not send cash by mail. Applications should be sent to Matthew Oestreich, Wood County Auditor, PO Box 368, Bowling Green, OH 43402.

In-person registrations are available at the Wood County Auditor’s Office or the Wood County Dog Shelter during business hours. Online registration is available at dogtags.co.wood.oh.us with a $2.15 processing fee per license.

Additionally, the Wood County District Board of Health requires all dogs to be vaccinated against rabies. Rabies vaccination details must be included in the registration process. For questions, contact 419-373-4917.
