Longtime Toledo Radio Personality Bob Kelly Passes Away at 84

WTOL reports that Bob Kelly, a cherished voice on Toledo radio for more than 50 years, has passed away. He died on his 84th birthday following a 14-year battle with Parkinson’s disease, according to a statement from his family.

Known off-air as Norm Plumer, Kelly became a household name across northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan. His career spanned from the 1960s until his retirement in 2011, making him a staple for generations of listeners.

One of his most memorable roles was as co-host of the popular “Kelly and Staples” morning show alongside Dennis Staples on WRQN 93.5—an era many still fondly recall for its humor, warmth, and community spirit.
