GRAND RAPIDS, OH (July 3, 2025) — A new voice is about to hit the FM dial in Grand Rapids, Ohio. Towpath Radio, the internet-born station known for its hometown spirit and timeless music, will officially launch on 98.7 FM WTOW-LP this Friday, July 4 at noon.
In the days leading up to the launch, 98.7 FM has been stunting as Pirate Radio—airing a wild, uncharted mix of country, oldies, pop, and more. With no map and no rules, Pirate Radio offers listeners a final blast of fun before the official Towpath Radio takeover at 12:00 p.m. on Friday.
Created during the early days of the pandemic, Towpath Radio quickly became a community favorite for its upbeat oldies, creative local segments, and small-town storytelling. Now expanding to FM, the station will continue to uplift Grand Rapids with hit music from the best decades and content that proudly showcases the voices and energy of Grand Rapids, Ohio.
“Taking Towpath Radio from an online stream to a real FM signal feels like a dream come true. This is about giving our community something truly local they can turn to every day,” says Josh David, station founder.
Towpath Radio’s format features a lively mix of oldies, listener-driven programming, and hyper-local content for Grand Rapids, a small village located along the Maumee River in Northwest Ohio. As a non-commercial LPFM station, it operates under the umbrella of NWO Community Media, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and is supported by FCC-compliant underwriting from area sponsors.
The station will feature familiar local voices, including Bill Michaels, London Mitchell, Ben Lachowski, and Josh David.
Grand Rapids residents can listen on 98.7 FM, stream online at TowpathRadio.com, ask Alexa to “Play Towpath Radio,” or tune in through the free Stream 419 app.
