Springfield Schools to Seek 3.9-Mill Operating Levy on May Ballot

Holland, Ohio — The Springfield Local Schools Board of Education voted Thursday to place a 3.9-mill operating levy on the May 5 ballot.

District officials said the measure would cost homeowners about $137 annually for each $100,000 of assessed property value. Revenue from the levy would help cover daily operating costs, such as classroom instruction and essential services.

School leaders emphasized that the proposal is not for new construction or facilities improvements but to offset a $1.5 million reduction in state funding last year.

If approved by voters, the levy would take effect in January 2027.
