Man Charged After Fatal Shooting in Jerry City

JERRY CITY, Ohio — The Wood County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred early Friday morning at a home in the village of Jerry City.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies were dispatched to a residence at 981 Main Street after a 27-year-old man called 911 at approximately 4:21 a.m. and reported that he had shot a friend.

Deputies arrived and took the suspect, identified as Logan Carrier, into custody without incident.

Investigators said the victim, identified as 30-year-old Thomas “TJ” Sager Jr. of Bowling Green, was found inside the home with a gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The sheriff’s office said the suspect’s fiancée and the couple’s 5-year-old child were also inside the home at the time of the shooting.

The Wood County Coroner’s Office, Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Wood County Prosecutor’s Office, Wood County Dog Warden and Mid-County 120 EMS assisted at the scene.

The investigation remains ongoing.
