Toledo, Ohio — Toledo Police Department have released video footage of an officer-involved shooting that occurred March 29 along Airport Highway.
According to police, officers responded to a weapons call in the 3800 block of Airport Highway involving a known male reportedly making threatening statements while armed with a firearm.
When officers arrived, they encountered the suspect, identified as 33-year-old Michael Savage, who was armed with a handgun. During the encounter, an officer discharged their weapon, striking Savage.
Savage was taken into custody at the scene. Police say the firearm was recovered and secured. He was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
No officers were injured during the incident.
Savage has been charged with felonious assault.
Per standard procedure and collective bargaining agreements, the officer or officers involved have been placed on paid administrative leave while the incident is under review.
