Rhythm on the River: Bliss Performs June 23

The Historical Society of Grand Rapids is excited to announce the first program of the Rhythm on the River Arts Series in Grand Rapids, Ohio. Bliss will be performing on Sunday, June 23rd at 4 p.m. in the Wright Pavilion located on the towpath between the canal and the Maumee River at the end of Lincoln Street behind LaRoe’s Venue.  The Rhythm programs are sponsored by the Grand Rapids Historical Society and are free to the public.

Members of Bliss are Lorilee Ash-Green, Cindy Drabik McFarland, M’Lissa Prottengeier and Brenda Holdridge. This quartet of women have “stepped outside the box” in the Northwest Ohio music scene. With their extraordinary blend of striking harmonies and their self-accompaniment of violin, two acoustic guitars, keyboard, and various light percussion instruments, they offer their audience an audible delight that is refreshingly unique. Their set list is also a treat to the weary listener of the “usual”, as they have incorporated songs from all genres and transformed them into their own noteworthy styles.

Bring your lawn chairs or blankets and join us in this beautiful setting alongside the Maumee River to take a musical journey with these talented ladies. In case of rain, the program will be moved to the Old Fire Station, farther west on Front St.

Plan to spend an afternoon in lovely, historic Grand Rapids. Many of the shops and restaurants will be open on the Sundays when River on the River concerts are held, so you can enjoy a very special day in the village.
