London Mitchell is the first voice you hear every morning as he delivers top of the hour news on Sweet 419 from 6am until noon weekdays. Actually, he was probably the first radio voice you’ve ever heard! London’s career spans decades in Northwest Ohio. You probably remember hearing him deliver news with Shores and Steele, Kelly and Staples, and on various other radio stations. London has volunteered to offer his news service to all of the NWO Community Media stations including Sweet 419, Towpath Radio, and River Rat Country. Hi! Thanks for listening to Sweet 419, my goal is to wake you up with a ton of great music and positive energy to get you going. I grew up outside of Holland and graduated from Springfield High School (class of 2002)! My career in radio started doing odd jobs around Yes-FM, then I was taken under the wing of Steve Marshall and Jeff Hastedt (Train) at Star 105. Steve gave me my first shot on the air as a senior in high school and jokingly named me “Opie,” that stuck for a few years more than I wanted! Eventually, I went on to do radio in Saginaw, Boise, Northern Michigan, and Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Locally, you may have heard me under my other assigned name, “Lucas” on the now defunct Tower 98. I left radio for about five years before coming back to create Sweet 419, Towpath Radio, and River Rat Country. I’ve had a ton of fun with this and I hope you enjoy what we’ve created! Also, since this is a throwback station I figured I’d throw it back to when I had hair with that photo above!
