Press Release:
The next program of the Rhythm on the River Arts Series in Grand Rapids will be presented by Warren & Flick on Sunday, June 30 at 4:00 p.m. The programs are held in the Wright Pavilion located on the towpath between the canal and the Maumee River at the end of Lincoln Street behind LaRoe’s Venue. The Rhythm programs are sponsored by the Grand Rapids Historical Society and are free to the public.
Warren & Flick explore the nuanced textures of a two-person ensemble. Jacob Warren plays double bass, while Grant Flick plays violin, tenor guitar and nyckelharpa. They use both original material and arranged standards from many genres and are both graduates of the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre and Dance. They met at an Acoustic Music Seminar in 2015, and their music is a reflection of their friendship and wide musical interests. They have collaborated on two albums, “Kestrel” and “Waxwing”. Combining Jacob’s classical foundation and Grant’s experience in bluegrass and jazz, their contrasting backgrounds give this collaboration a unique and compelling musical narrative. They also strive to share their knowledge with young musicians to inspire and educate by leading workshops/clinics for young musicians.
This concert presented by these exceptional artists is sponsored by Titan Mechanical. The Historical Society thanks them for their support and generosity.
Bring your lawn chairs or blankets and join us in this beautiful setting alongside the Maumee River and enjoy this creative, diverse acoustic duo. In case of rain, the program will be moved to the Old Fire Station, farther west on Front St.
Plan to spend an afternoon in lovely, historic Grand Rapids. Many of the shops and restaurants will be open on the Sundays when River on the River concerts are held, so you can enjoy a very special day in the village.
