Vintage 93Q Toledo Radio Jacket and DJ Collection Sparks Nostalgia on eBay

Toledo radio history just popped up on eBay… and if you grew up around Northwest Ohio in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s, this photo is going to hit you with instant nostalgia.

A former 93Q DJ is selling an incredible vintage bundle from the station’s glory days, including a classic wool-and-leather 93Q varsity bomber jacket covered in authentic radio station pins, a 93Q shirt, vintage stickers, and even a personal thank-you note from legendary morning host Steve Mason.

And honestly? The jacket alone looks like a time machine back to 1989. Between the bright 93Q logo, the old-school pins, and a Ghostbusters II / Cartoon Network-era vibe, it feels like something straight out of the Southwyck Mall parking lot on a Friday night with Casey Kasem on the radio.

For longtime Toledo listeners, 93Q wasn’t just another station. WRQN became one of the area’s biggest radio success stories after launching in the early 1980s as a rock-leaning Top 40 station. Even with a smaller signal, “Hit Rock, Hit Radio, 93Q” built a loyal following and became a true Northwest Ohio staple.

The station featured personalities like Steve Mason, Diane Scribner, Brad Hanson, Ted Kelly, Scott Greggory and more, along with iconic programming including Casey’s Top 40 and Saturday Night Hot Mix. It even aired “93Q’s On The Edge,” introducing alternative rock before it became mainstream.

In 1991, 93Q shocked listeners by flipping formats and eventually becoming Oldies 93.5 — a move many Toledo listeners still remember decades later.

Steve Mason later went on to national media ventures including ESPN, while Diane Scribner left broadcasting to become an oncology nurse after attending Owens Community College. She passed away in 2021, but many longtime listeners still remember her voice from Toledo radio’s golden era.

It’s wild how a single old radio jacket can unlock so many memories. Check it out on EBay here!

Did you grow up listening to 93Q? What’s your favorite memory of Toledo radio back then?
