Toledo, Ohio — Sweet 419 Radio has unveiled an exciting new format that leans into ’90s and 2000s hits while mixing in some great songs from the ’60s, ’70s, and today’s pop artists. The revamped format also features a high-definition stream upgrade, giving listeners an immersive, crystal-clear experience that’s as fresh as the playlist itself.
“We had to do something different,” explained Josh David, Program Director and President of NWO Community Media. “The FM band has the ’90s and 2000s covered now, but that wasn’t the case three years ago when Sweet 419 launched. Our goal now is to play ‘music for all generations.’” Grounded in ’90s and early 2000s nostalgia, Sweet 419’s playlist occasionally dips back to include classic favorites and new releases, creating a diverse, feel-good sound.
Sweet 419’s new approach is built for listeners on the go or at work, with morning local news delivered by Toledo radio legend London Mitchell and DJs keeping listeners company throughout the day. Designed for daytime listeners, the station plays a lively and work-friendly mix during business hours, then shifts after 5 p.m. to include even more variety. Listeners will hear hits from Alanis Morissette, Backstreet Boys, and Britney Spears, along with the Weeknd, Duran Duran, Paramore, The 1975, Foster the People, Sum 41, Maroon 5, and current voices like Shawn Mendes, Shaboozy, and Benson Boone. Every so often, classics from The Beatles, CCR, and Aretha Franklin pop in, adding a familiar touch to the station’s unique vibe.
While many traditional FM stations run nearly 15-20 minutes of ads per hour, Sweet 419 keeps commercial breaks light, giving more time for the music and keeping the energy high.
Listeners can tune in from anywhere—just not on FM. Sweet 419 is available at Sweet419.com, via the Toledo-based “Stream 419” app on Apple, Android, and Firestick, or by asking Alexa to enable “Sweet Four One Nine.” For home listening, it’s also available through the Live365 app on Roku, Firestick, Apple TV, and other devices.
Sweet 419 is powered by NWO Community Media, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a mission to bring hyper-local radio back to Northwest Ohio. This community-focused initiative keeps the station’s programming flexible and responsive to local tastes, building an engaging, multi-generational playlist that stands out in the region’s radio scene.
